Ok so, first off, I’m not sure what I want to do with my life.
Right now I’m the photo editor of the UCF newspaper, and I was senior staff photographer for a year before that.
Ok so I went to the Orlando Sentinel (Largest central florida newspaper, our version of the Miami Herald. 300,000+ subscriptions, like 500,000 readers daily). and while I was there I saw some photographers that I have shot with on assignment for my paper (sporting events, neo-nazi rally, etc). and apperantly they have been dropping my name, and I was approached by the Director of Photographer for an internship at the paper.
I’m just wondering how much work this would be since I already work for a newspaper, I wonder if it would be daily work, etc. I know a girl who did it a couple years ago, I am gonna contact her, and I have yet to call him back, I just listened to his message this morning.
Another part of this post is, does anyone know what starting photojournalist get paid? I was told by ONE person like 40k, but that seems high, I am just trying to figure out if I want to take this internship, and go all out and switch my major to photo journalism at the college, I know I’d love it, and I’d still minor in business.
Sorry if this seems more like a rant. Comments? Thanks guys.
